• Looking for Freelance illustrators and animators

Hi!
I saw your job offer, and I think I could be interested if you don't have a deadline too close.

You can see how I work on this page: Spine: Twitch
You'll also notice I already know how to set up skins for an isometric character.
I don't usually take freelance jobs, but when they look challenging like yours (or are extremely cute) I make an exception.

My strong points are rig setups, my rates for rigging are 45$/h
For reviewing your pipeline and training someone to do it 75$/h

Setting the rig will probably be the longest part of the process, but if you do it well, adding new skins or animations later, perhaps for future updates of your game, should be much easier.

I work best when I have a complete PSD properly structured as a starting point, but we can also discuss how to best prepare it.

My latest freelance project has been implementing meshes and 2.5D effects in the HighRise app: http://www.joinhighrise.com/ https://apps.apple.com/us/app/highrise-virtual-world/id924589795
For example, here's a brief gif testing 2.5D head turns allowing their assets (1000+ in game) to seamlessly work with it:

In case you didn't find them, here's a couple gifs of turns and isometric views I did:

I'm of course also up to date on all the new Spine features such as skin bones.
Please let me know if you're interested!

Cheers,

Erika

Hello Erika, nice to meet you!

Thanks for answering our post and offering your services. We were looking at your work yesterday when we were trying to see if Spine capabilities could fit our needs. Your stream playlist "Animating an 8-direction character" is why we decided to post an announce on the first place to see what could be done 🙂

We would be interested to check with you what you would need to be able to work on this project. We didn't plan at first to use our characters for isometric 3D view so we'll need a lot of work on the illustration side too that we can do in-house or find someone to do it for us.

Your expertise would certainly help us to understand what pipeline should be put in place and allows us to estimate the cost and scope of the project.

Would you be interested in a 1h (or 2h) meeting with our character designer and myself (paid ofc) to check with us what we could do and how, and then if we can achieve our goals, give you the rigging/animation part?

Best regards.
Mathias Latournerie.

Thank you Mathias!
I'd love to have a call with you, my mail is erikari (at) hotmail (dot) it
Let me know which platform you'd like to use (skype, meet, discord, zoom...) and we can schedule it for next week/when you prefer.

I'd recommend preparing this info if possible:

  • rough number of skins or customization kinds
  • rough number of animations
  • target platform and game engine

Looking forward to the call!

Erika

Awesome!

We could use Discord (JDW#6422). We are available from 10am to 6pm CEST (Paris) monday to friday, except this monday morning.

I can already give you the infos you listed:

1) On the Full HD version of our characters (much bigger than what we'll need for 3D), we have 2200 pngs, but a lot of them are very similar, and some of them do not need to be displayed on 3D (weapons, pets, etc) so I've copy/pasted a doc we use to keep track of our art progress, removed most of the things you don't need and translated it with Google Translate (just to help you understand).

Every "model" is a different art, and each model exists in x "colors".
It means roughly 370 different arts (150 of them being for the faces, and I'm not sure we'll be able to show them at the scale we'll need them)

We have all the PSDs in 2048*4096, fully organized. We'll share it to you next week.

2) At least "running". We'd like "walking" too. As extra (depends a lot of the budget), we would like to have emotes (wave, dance, bow, etc), sitting and sleeping, but to be honest I doubt it would be feasible considering the tech and the assets we would need. You'll tell us 🙂

3) HTML5 pixi spine. It's based on the official typescript runtime "spine-ts" and compatible with Spine 3.8.

Have a nice week end!
