  • Spine asks for Activation code on OSX 10.9.4 everytime

Hi there, I bought Spine yesterday. 🙂
I've opened and closed it a few times since then and each time I have to enter my license key. 🙁

Is this because I had the trial before?
I am using it at work and we are on a large network, could that be it?
I also launch the app from a shortcut in my dock, maybe thats it?

Anyways, I will be installing on my Windows machine tonight. I will let you know if I have the same issue there.

Thanks

Hey 🙂

We've been getting reports of this but have unfortunately not been able to reproduce it ourselves which makes it really hard to solve, there are a couple of other threads on the issue. Really sorry for the trouble, but I'm sure we'll be able to find the cause for it eventually 🙂

no worries, it's a very small issue. I just keep the license key handy.

Thanks!

something I noticed today on my ride home on the train where wifi service is spotty and usually dead.
When Spine asked for my license key this time it failed to connect...
The program won't open until I can activate my license again via the internet.

I hope you find the issue soon
Thanks

Congrats on the 2.0 release. I didn't get the update. Nice surprise today. 🙂

Has there been any update on the OSX Mavericks Activation issue? I still get the issue when I relaunch Spine.
It doesn't happen every time I launch but at least once a day.

I also have the issue of not being able to launch the software when I am without an internet connection.

Thanks

Unfortunately we are in the same place

it doesn't happen on our OS X Mavericks, ever. 🙁 I can't imagine what sort of configuration could cause this to happen.

If Spine requests your activation code, it means it didn't like the update file for some reason. In this case it wants to download the update again, which is why you are unable to run Spine without an internet connection. Normally Spine will run using the last downloaded update when there is no internet.

Does it occur when you close Spine normally?

The updates are stored here:
<user home folder>/Library/Application Support/Spine/updates
You can get to this easily by pressing cmd+shift+G in Finder. Is it possible something could be nuking these files?

The Spine Trial folder was still in there. I deleted anything to do with the Trial.
Now I just close then re launched Spine and it paused to tell me there was an update to 2.0.02

I am going to restart my machine and turn off wifi and see what happens. Could the Trial app and Trial Application Support folder have been causing this issue?

The trial is separate, it shouldn't affect the full version.

What launcher version is reported in your spine.log file?

after deleting the trial folders it seems everything is fine now
I restarted again, turned off wifi then launched Spine
This time it said the update check failed but the app still launched in 2.0.002 mode

Here is the log file:

after the recent update and removing the trial from my system I am able to launch offline and I haven't had to re activate my license again.
Not sure what it was but it seems to be a non issue.

Thanks

It may just be coincidence. I think we've figured out the problem and hope to have it fixed in the next update.

Sounds great!
BTW - is there a newsletter or feed I can sign up for? I wasn't aware of the 2.0.2 update. I stumbled across it when I returned to the forum.

If you download and reinstall Spine, the problems with it asking for your activation code should go away and you should be able to use it offline just fine. Note that the 2.0.10 Spine update (will be released tomorrow) requires Mac and Linux users to download and reinstall Spine. Sorry, was no way around it!

When you start Spine, if there is an update available it will ask if you want to update. You can watch the change log:
