The sprite packer is finally out of beta but it seems to be a pro-only feature though. I think it could still be made to work with Unity-free but it wouldn't be as good. I haven't investigated on the matter too thoroughly.
re: using a 1:1 vs. 1:100 world units-to-pixels scale
They also finally exposed some of the Box2D constants in the editor, but a warning against increasing those numbers is still there.
