Clipping attachments can be deformed automatically when bones are transformed by using weights. Sorry for my late reply. I understand what you mean. Regarding auto weights for clipping attachments, it does not support it as you mentioned. We have been made aware of it as our TODO, but I added an issue for this on GitHub: https://github.com/EsotericSoftware/spine-editor/issues/615
You can subscribe to the issue ticket, then you will receive additional notifications upon any progress.

Regarding binding clipping attachments to bones, it is not a new feature of 4.0. You can bind clipping attachments to bones from 3.6. What version of Spine are you using?
