If you open the skins view and pin multiple skins at the same time, you will get the sum of the vertices for the active combination.
Try to pin all the skins at once to see the heaviest result!
It shall be noted that also at runtime only the active skin attachments, skin bones, skin constraints affect runtime performance. This is why calculating the overall number of vertices is less important than calculating the heaviest combination.
