IndieDoroid Hi guys, Is there a way to get a more efficient texture pack? I seem to get alot of unused space which could have been used for larger images. 😢 Any help would be appreciated. Thanks
Pharan If you have Power of Two enabled, or if it's a requirement of your engine, the empty space like you see there is inevitable. If you don't want or need Power of Two, just disable it in the texture packer settings.
IndieDoroid Disabling power of 2 did the trick! Are there any drawbacks for disabling it? I'm using the textures in Unity. Thanks!

Some old devices don't support non-power of 2 texture. If you care about player using old iPhone and want maximum compatibility, and don't want those players spam you with support email and rate your app 1 star because they saw blank texture everywhere, power of 2 maybe a better choice. On the other hand, if you are not developing for mobile platform, I guess it is safe to use non-power of 2 texture.
Pharan Particularly very old iOS devices required it. And I think certain compression settings still require it. I'm not hip to the new compression settings Unity introduced recently. I always set them to no compression since that was always the recommendation for 2D sprites and older compression types did horrible things to it.
IndieDoroid Hmm thanks guys. ok I'll give it a try with the non-power of 2 setting in Unity and see if I run into graphical problems. Will keep you guys updated.
